Battle of Redemtion
Private Ygnat
Borderline Colony; Redemtion
Year: 1107
The shuttle shacked at tact with the gun fire; Trey sat nervous and frequently checked the Prothon Carbine. One of the Sergeants told him he would be all right. “Just don’t get in to the crossfire”, the Sergeant told him. She smiled at him and pulled on her mask. Trey did the same. When the doors opened he and the rest of the squad rushed forward, he did the same. The long silhouettes of the Tyrans at the city were freighting. The battle rushed between the fractions at the crater filled battlefield. Trey regrouped with the squad and saw how one of the other privates felled with a still glowing plasma bullet in her head. The fear crept trough his skin, will he end the same way? He ran to the rest of the squad, or at least that was left of it. The Sergeant that had talked to him earlier had been injured her leg. The Captain contacted them via their headset.
“Seems we can’t get air support, unless we destroy those mortars. Ygnat, Realz flank the the one to the west and keep their nest busy. Zaraph, you and Aren will place the explosives to it, while their nest is busy. You got the plan, move up!”
The ashes fell down like snow around Trey and Realz, as they shooting moved through the battlefield. The Tyran’s moved closer to their position. As the Privates flanked the nest, the Tyran’s where flanking them. A sound of airplanes broke the firefight and a group of Tyran SpecOps landed. Their plasma rifles shined trough the ashes. They walked calmly trough the battlefield. They spread out, moving slowly, patient, like a pack of hunters surrounding their prey. Trey shoot down one of the SpecOps, thinking that he’d killed it, but he’s hope got smashed to pieces when the SpecOps rose. Trey looked back at Realz, that just where throwing a grenade into the gun nest. Just as Trey warned his college, a voice from the SpecOps in the middle broke the nervous silence: “Surrender, you cannot win.”
Trey screamed, Go to Hell! And started shooting at them. He shot until the clip was empty and reloaded. He knew that he couldn’t win, but Trey was not giving up. He got shot in the leg and screamed. But he didn’t care. A plasma bullet hit is chest. One of Trey’s lungs were injured. But he continued. Only after that an explosion of the Anti-Air Cannon was silenced, he stopped. And fell to the ground, the pain in his chest was like a never ending fire. He fell back and saw the numbers of pods raining down. He knew the battle wasn’t over. He tried to rise up, but the fire in his stomach made him crawl in pain. He could hear the battle, how it was being transported longer and longer away… How voices screamed… One word… KIA…
